Media Spending

Advertising Sales in Japan for May 2010

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) reported data on July 25 for May 2010 for all Japan advertising expenditures. Expenditures for all 4 major advertising media (newspapers, magazine, radio, and TV) amounted for about 3.457 trillion Yen, a YoY change of 100.6 percent, thus being the first plus in 27 months.

Whereas the 4 major media received less expenditures when compared to the figures of the last year, the YoY change of Internet advertising expenditure was 105.4 percent in May 2010, thus representing a plus trend for the last 8 months.

Advertising Sales in Japan for Feb. 2010

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) reported data for April 19 for all Japan advertising expenditures. Expenditures for all 4 major advertising media (newspapers, magazine, radio, and TV) amounted for about 3.5 trillion Yen, a YoY change of 94.9 percent.

Whereas the 4 major media received less expenditures when compared to the figures of the last year, the YoY change of Internet advertising expenditure was 111.7 percent in February 2010, thus representing a plus trend for the last 5 months.
